Mohammed Al Atiq was born in Doha, Qatar in 1966. He is a very prolific artist. He is serious, ambitious and certainly one of the most active among contemporaries in the field of Qatari fine arts. He experiments and innovates in order to stand out. For him, an artist must adapt his techniques according to the times.
He believes that it is important to establish a connection between a work of art and its owner. That is why he is keen on filling up the gap, and engage the viewer with the creative output. He is committed to the mastery of the technical aspects of craft. In addition, he fully utilizes his creativity and range of experience with a variety of media and presentation modes.
His visual art doesn't dwell on any particular philosophical or complex principles.
He simply puts emphasis on the aesthetics of color, the application techniques and the use of spaces in his creations. He connects all these patterns to the cultural heritage in his creative output. At the start of his career, he focused his skills in oil painting. Ambitious and enthusiastic, he took courses and workshops in graphic design. Eventually he joined Qatar TV as a graphic artist - its very first. He introduced new ideas in the process, and through his capabilities in modern techniques and technicalities, his department became largely instrumental in the development of Qatar TV. After ten years in broadcasting, he went back to painting and a new style of mixed media emerged in his works.
